Dan Rauch is a fisheries and wildlife biologist with the District Department of the Environment (DDOE). Rauch grew up on a farm in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and was exposed to wildlife every day. He is passionate about his job documenting and studying the myriad birds that are found in the District. He lives in the District with his wife, his 2-year-old daughter (who already knows her ducks) and a corgi named Pepper. He is affectionately known by his colleagues as Dan the Birdman.
